The purposes of the scholarships are:i. to recognize students of outstanding aptitude and scholarship;ii. to provide an opportunity for incoming students to receive an exceptional education without a monetary burden;iii. to encourage and broaden the student’s opportunities while attending UNYT.UNYT offers scholarships to students to be enrolled in any of the degree programs. The subject areas covered by UNYT at this time are as follows:– Business Administration; Business Communication; Economics; Finance; Management; Marketing; English Language and Literature; Communication and Journalism; International Relations and Political Sciences; Psychology; Computer Science; Information Systems.UNYT offers two types of scholarships to incoming students based on the percentage of fees covered. Five full-fee scholarships will be provided to the five first winners of UNYT’s competition. For these students, all fees associated with registration and course work will be provided. Four other scholarships will provide 50% of the fees to the sixth up to the eleventhwinner of UNYT’s competition. Each of these scholarships will be provided for the students’ complete course of study. However, scholarship holders wishing to obtain a Bachelor’s from the State University of New York / Empire State College (SUNY/ESC) together with their UNYT degree are required to cover the fees of the SUNY/ESC concentration courses through their own financial means.UNYT attaches considerable importance to the monitoring of your performance and progress. If your performance is such that continuation of the award is not justified, the scholarship will be terminated. Scholarships will be renewed only for students who meet the requirements specified in the following paragraph. Scholarships will be renewed on semester bases only if you maintain the high level of academic aptitude with which the award was earned. You must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.33 (B+) on semester bases in order to be eligible for renewal. In addition, you are required to submit progress reports at the close of each semester of study at UNYT. These reports should detail the courses taken and grades earned as well as your intentions for the following semester. Forms for the progress reports will be distributed to scholarship holders at the end of each semester. These forms must be returned to UNYT before the start of the following semester to assure a renewal of your scholarship. At the close of each semester the rank of the scholarship recipients is reconsidered on the basis of their GPA.EligibilityIn order to be eligible for a scholarship from UNYT, you must meet certain conditions relating to academic qualifications. You should be a graduate of a recognized high school, a student expecting to graduate from a high school before 31 August 2011, or a holder of an equivalent diploma (i.e. International Baccalaureate, etc.) with a Grade Point Average of no less than 8/10 (or equivalent). You should be a student planning to enrol with UNYT in the Fall 2011 for full-time studies. You should not hold any other scholarships or award for study at UNYT. There is NO age limit for applicants, and applications from candidates of whatever age will be considered on their merits, taking into account all the circumstances of the case. How to apply? You should complete your application on the given form, which is available from UNYT and submit it with all supporting documents to the UNYT reception desk. Applicants applying from abroad may post their application folder for the attention of Mr. Hektor Ruci; all posted applications, though, should have been received by Monday, September 26, 2011, at 17.00 (GMT +1). This deadline will be strictly enforced and no applications or reference forms will thereafter be accepted. You should read the notes of the form carefully before you begin to fill it in. The first part of the form asks for information about you and your proposed program of study. The second part consists of two reference forms. Applications must be accompanied by two reference forms. You should choose two individuals that have known you in an academic or work-related manner. High school teachers, counsellors or employers are generally ideal references. You should not request a reference from a family member or friend as these individuals cannot provide us with objective recommendations. These forms should be signed and sealed, placed in two corresponding envelopes and must be turned in along with your application form and a certified copy of your high school diploma and transcript(s) for all 4 years of your high school studies. In order to apply for the scholarship, you first need to download the application form (found here) and send it via post to the address located below.Selection procedureUNYT appoints assessors from among senior academic staff. They consider all the available information relevant to a decision whether to support a particular student. There are no quotas to the number of applications accepted. Applications are assessed on their merits by assessors, who take account of:i. your performance in high school based on the high school transcript (30% of the total assessment grade);ii. your performance on examinations in English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (60% of the total assessment grade)iii. your references and an interview (10% of the total assessment grade).Applicants will be invited for an interview with assessors after notification. You will be notified of the result of your application by letter no later than October 6, 2011. In order for an applicant to qualify for a scholarship, he/she must have achieved a score of no less than 80% in each of the three exams. In some cases candidates will be informed that they are on a reserve list, and that a scholarship can be offered only if another candidate declines the offer of an award.ContactsUniversity of New York TiranaRruga “Komuna e Parisit”, Pranë Kopshtit BotanikTirana, AlbaniaTelephone: +355 042 273056, -57, -58Fax: +355 042 273059Email: [email protected] download a complete UNYT Scholarships Booklet, please click here. The Official Website on September 21, 2014 at 10:18 am Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see ifit can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. Australian import requirements amended

first_imgChanges to the import conditions for these goods coincides with the commencement of the new Biosecurity Act 2015, said a statement. According to the DAWR, the aim of this new arrangement is to reduce costs and the regulatory burden to importers.Australia’s Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) will be updated on June 16 to reflect these changes. A statement noted that importers may choose to delay importing the goods mentioned until June 16 to avoid having to obtain import permits under the Quarantine Act 1908.The DAWR has also commenced a review into the management of biosecurity risks associated with imported used machinery and equipment, which it says may result in further changes to import conditions for these cargoes.Australian freight forwarder Depth Logistics applauded this approach by the DAWR, noting that there has previously been “little or no industry engagement”, which has caused “all sorts of issues” for its clients.”This change by DAWR is very positive and reduces another compliance burden on all stakeholders,” said Depth Logistics.www.agriculture.gov.auwww.depthlogistics.comlast_img read more

Major storm bearing down on East Coast

first_img Related iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A major coastal storm is expected to blow through the East Coast Sunday into Monday, arriving exactly five years after superstorm Sandy devastated the area.On Saturday, the storm system — which is expected to be significantly less powerful than Sandy — is forecast to spread heavy rain across Florida, after which it will quickly move up the East Coast.By Sunday afternoon, heavy rain will be falling from New Jersey to New England. The heaviest rain will be Sunday evening from New York City to Boston. Flash flooding is possible, with some areas getting more than 6 inches of rainfall. As the storm gets stronger and closer to the Northeast, gusty winds will develop, especially into Monday morning. Some of the gusts could reach 50 to 60 mph, and in New England, gusts may near 70 mph.Travelers should brace for potential delays at northeastern airports. Sunday marks five years to the day that Superstorm Sandy devastated the East Coast in 2012. The storm resulted in dozens of deaths in New York state, and both New York and New Jersey reported over $30 billion in damages.Copyright © 2017, ABC Radio. Steel Sensations…Jones or Gradkowski?

first_imgLandry jones (AP Photo/File)As we are less than two weeks away from the start of training camp, it’s become the time to start thinking about position battles that will be taking place.  We all know who the starting QB is and we are surely all thankful for having one of the best in the business to lead the way.  However, an extremely important position battle is for the right to back up Big Ben. In the event he gets hurt, who should the Steelers call upon? They’ve left their options to two veterans they’ve had on the roster for the last 4 years, Bruce Gradkowski, who missed all of last season but has a decent amount of starting experience or Landry Jones who elevated himself to the number two job last season and garnered some success while starting  a few games when called upon. While Gradkowski does have the more accomplished career, he hasn’t played much at all since joining the Steelers a few years ago. He’s older than Jones and he’s coming off a season in which he was on IR and couldn’t even practice with the team.  Sure, he’ll have training camp and the pre season to knock off the rust but does it make sense now to have him as the backup or does it make more sense to continue to develop Jones and maintain him as the number two for several more seasons? If you haven’t guessed what I think just yet then let me spell it out for you, I believe the job should go to Jones. He played well enough to be the number two guy last season. He caught some flak from the fans for not living up to their standards but when Big Ben is who you’re being compared to, it’s hard to live up to those standards, no matter who you are.  I think the fact that he’ still young, he played some significant snaps last year, got first team reps with guys like Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton, to name a few; and had some success along the way, provides the right recipe for Jones being that guy this season.Time will tell and both guys will play it out on the field. My suspicion is the Steelers expect the job to go to Gradkowski and I assume he feels that way too or he probably wouldn’t have signed on to come back this season but I think the job should and ultimately will go to Jones.Mike Pelaia hosts the website Steel Nation Association www.steelnationassociation.com – Covering the Steelers and helping Children’s Hospital All Day Everyday.
