JK Rowling Is Under Fire for DumbledoreGrindelwald Love Reveal

first_img J.K. Rowling recently made a statement about the gay relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald and some of the movie’s fans aren’t thrilled about it.Rowling recently discussed the pair in a feature that was included in the Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, stating that their “bond” was intense, passionate, and emotional, Mashable reported.I have the exact same reaction to JK Rowling trying to retroactively diversify the Harry Potter universe as I do to James Cameron promising four Avatar sequels. Nobody asked for this.— Hazel Hayes (@TheHazelHayes) March 18, 2019“Their relationship was incredibly intense. It was passionate, and it was a love relationship. But, as happens in any relationship, gay or straight, or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows, really, what the other person is feeling,” Rowling said in the feature interview. “You can’t know, you can believe you know.”Rowling went on to explain how she is, “less interested in the sexual side” and more into the, “sense of emotions they felt for each other.”“So I’m less interested in the sexual side — though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship — than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships,” Rowling added.Following these statements, many people aren’t happy that Rowling is discussing Dumbledore’s sexuality late in the game, CNN noted. Last year, fans were also annoyed that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald wouldn’t dig deeper into the character’s romantic interests.dumbledore being gay is the most far fetched shit that jk rowling has come up with. i don’t remember reading that he sat improperly in chairs, changed his hair style as a coping mechanism, was obsessed with lana del ray, and was happy and depressed at the same time.— 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔟𝔦𝔱𝔠𝔥 (@yourlocalgaymom) March 17, 2019 Pottermore, Warner Bros. This further reduces queer relationships and queer characters just to sex in media commentary. Which is the last thing we needed.— Exorcising Emily (@exorcisingemily) March 17, 2019last_img
